# osDAO - Decentralized Governance

osDAO enables community governance at two levels: platform-wide decisions through $OS tokens and repository-specific control through repo tokens and ONFTs powered by LayerZero's omnichain infrastructure.

### Governance Structure

#### Platform Level

* Protocol parameters and features
* Ecosystem treasury allocation
* Strategic direction

#### Repository Level

* Project development decisions
* Contributor permissions
* Revenue distribution

### Token Architecture

#### Repository Tokens

Each repository generates its own governance tokens, distributed to contributors based on their code commits and pull requests. These tokens represent voting power within that specific project.

#### ONFT Ownership

Every repository has a unique ONFT (Omnichain NFT) that represents primary ownership. Through LayerZero, these ONFTs can move seamlessly across chains while maintaining governance rights.

```
Repository Structure:
├── ONFT - Primary ownership rights
├── Repo Tokens - Contributor governance
└── Treasury - Project-specific funds
```

### Cross-Chain Capabilities

LayerZero integration enables:

* Omnichain NFT transfers
* Cross-chain governance participation
* Unified ownership across ecosystems

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.os.codes/overview/roadmap/osdao-decentralized-governance.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
